MISSIONARIES TO AUSTRALIA: Al and Cynthia Helms

Acts 26:18

Joshua 3:4 "... have not passed this way heretofore."

Israel was preparing to cross the Jordan and go into Canaan land. This would be a new territory in which they had never been before. Crossing the Jordan would mark a new era in the life of the Jews.

It appears that 1998 is being characterized by many new happenings taking place within the church here in Australia. We began the year by having our first "Missions Conference", with three Australian missionaries present in the three day meeting. Then we went on to have our first "Soul-Winning Conference", with two teenage girls saved during the Sunday morning service. As we now prepare this letter, we are in the process of planning our first "Youth Camp" for the last week in June. Also we are making preparation to have another "Revival Meeting" in September. Often during holiday's here in Australia people tend to go away, just as they do in America, but in our Easter Sunday service we had 75 in attendance (PRAISE THE LORD!!!). If Cindy and I ever need your prayers and financial support to do the work to which God has called us, it is now.

Another exciting event that is taking place this year is that we are in the process of looking for some land, with the hope of putting a building on the site; the people are thrilled about the possibility of having their own property. One of the things that I failed to appreciate while in America was having your own building. Every service here we have to rent a hall and set up for the service and then take it down after the service leaving it like we found it. We also have to adjust our service times to fit the hall schedules. If you have a building you should praise the Lord. Please make this a matter of prayer since the price of everything is so expensive here in Australia.

On the home front Cindy and I are doing well, even though this year was the hottest summer on record out here. Can I say that I would like to sincerely thank you for the opportunity of allowing me firstly to represent the Lord and secondly to represent your church here in the Land Down Under.
